The RIN/Q (A Ring Shaped Quantum Engine) is a peculiar engine that powers the ORBEAR but is highly inefficient as it burns through its fuel source. Therefore it was discarded for its initial purpose and then picked up by race teams to participate in the Orbital Endurance series. Pilots attempt to travel as far as they can before the RIN/Q runs out of juice. And the best pilots and teams skim the atmosphere to ‘recharge’ the RIN/Q to extend their runs.
